YWCA USA Mission, History & Impact
Founded in 1858, the YWCA is one of the world’s oldest and most respected organizations dedicated to improving the lives of women, girls, and people of color. The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Our 47,000 volunteers serve more than 2 million women, girls, people of color and their families in the United States at more than 1,300 locations across the nation. YWCAs are also found in more than 100 countries reaching more than 25 million members worldwide.
Donate to Uplift Others & Fulfill the Mission
Your gift will help us:
- Transform lives and uplift communities.
- Support YWCA as a national movement that addresses issues facing every woman.
- Influence public policies on behalf of women and people of color.
- Speak out on behalf of women and girls and what they face today: racial, ethnic and gender disparities; domestic violence and sexual assault; a lack of affordable childcare and after-school programs; the urgency for job training in a struggling economy; the shortage of transitional and low-cost housing; and the high cost of health care.
